Menace … German ‘super’ wasp has three black spots on his face and is bigger than the average wasp
They have three black spots on their face, and can sting repeatedly.
Colonies can contain up to 10,000 insects and they can instantly send signals to mobilise the entire nest to attack an intruder.
Experts are warning this month’s soaring temperatures after a warm spring and mild winter have created ideal breeding conditions.
In extreme cases, allergies to bee and wasp stings can also be fatal
Ian Urquhart, of Advanced Pest Management, warned: “Many insects will have come out of hibernation early to seek food.
“It means we could have more prolific breeding trends and a larger population.
“We will only know for sure later in the year but we could be facing a bumper season.”
